Services Offered Shoe Repair (see below for on-line shoe repair services) - The shoe repair world has changed drastically since 1880, but we have tried to keep up with the times. We use the best equipment, tools, and repair materials we can get our hands on. In addition, we attend the SSIA convention each year to learn about new techniques and materials that are available to us. We do this so we can provide our customers with the best service that we possibly can, and so we can continue to call ourselves "The Best Little Shoe Shop in Manhattan." * In addition to replacing soles and heels, we also clean shoes, replace elastics and velcros, stretch shoes, and replace shanks. Custom Orthotics - We see people with some very serious foot issues and deformities. For these people we believe that the custom orthotic route is the best for their needs. We have a company that we send our casts to, who create these orthotics for us. Sole Supports craft the orthotics using the M.A.S.S. technology. Their prices are very reasonable compared to surgery or other corrective options. We are confident that Sole Supports' custom orthotics are the best fit for people with serious foot issues. Off the Shelf Orthotics - We carry a wide assortment of off the shelf orthotics. Off the shelf orthotics will solve most peoples problems with just a few minor adjustments. The adjustments can range from adding medial and lateral postings to adding more metatarsal using pads or bars.

About Us... In the late 1800's, Peter Olson opened Olson's Shoe Repair located at 224 Poyntz in Manhattan, KS. In 1913, Peter's son Samual took over the family business and started The Electric Shoe Company. He owned two stores; one located at 107 N. Fourth and the other at 1228 1/2 Moro, both in Manhattan. He and his son Clyde ran the stores together. When Clyde's health failed, his son Eddie took over. Eddie Olson Sr., the current owner of Olson's Shoe Service, ran the shop from 1964 to 1984, located at 1214 Moro, in the current Jimmy John's sandwich shop. In 1984, Olson's Shoe Service moved to its present location at 1214 B Moro, located behind the original shop. Eddie's son, Edwin Jr., does the shoe repair work, continuing the family business tradition. Currently, Olson's Shoe and Pedorthic Service serves the needs of many. We do shoe repair and orthopedic work, as well as sell many brands of shoes from Birkenstocks and Merrell, to the ever-popular Keen's and our new line Kumfs from New Zealand.
